Advent means “arrival” and is the season leading up to Christmas where we consider what Christmas is all about—the arrival of Christ into this world and what it means for us today.
Whether you are brand new to church, returning after some time away, or someone who attends church every week, Advent is the perfect time to come and consider who Jesus is.
This year, our Advent series titled Poetic Jesus will help us see how Jesus’s coming was foretold in the book of Psalms.
Join us in preparing our hearts for Christmas as we study together. This year, we’ll be reading through Jared C. Wilson’s book Gifts of Grace, a daily Advent devotional, beginning on December 1 and concluding on Christmas Day. Books are available for purchase at the Welcome Space for $5!
Friday, December 8 + Saturday, December 9, 2:00–4:00p
Overflow will be hosting a Christmas Store on Friday, December 8, and Saturday, December 9, providing discounted gifts to families in need in our local community. To learn more details and discover volunteer opportunities, view the event on the Church Center app.
Don’t miss a thing this season at Cottage Grove! Get text reminders about our Advent and Christmas events.
Where should I park?
Our church is located near downtown Des Moines and has its own parking lot as well as many spots available on the surrounding streets. Our parking team will help you find an available spot.
Can my kids come?
Kids are always welcome to join service with their families. They are also invited to attend Cottage Grove Kids during each Sunday service (except for Christmas Eve services where we will only have childcare for those 3 and under).
When should I come?
This Sunday is always the best Sunday to go to church. We’ll be starting our Advent sermon series on November 26, but just because you weren’t here for one Sunday doesn’t mean you won’t be able to catch up.
Are you the type of person who needs to know everything before you do anything? We love you for that, and we’re here to answer any questions you might have.
